Cattleack Barbeque

After a long time of having it on my list of restaraunts that I must try I finally made it in to Cattleack BBQ. I showed up around 11:45 AM and got through the doors immediately. It took probably less than ten minutes to make it to the front of the line. I got the Texas Trinity with an extra link of the Hatch Chile Sausage. The portion size of the trinity was good for the price, and for me at least, just the right amount of food to eat without getting the meat sweats. The sausage was outstanding. Probably the best I’ve had so far in the state of Texas. The brisket was flavorful but I found the crust to be overly salty. Could’ve just been the particular brisket we got that day though, not sure. The pork Rib was good but didn’t blow my socks off. Overall the place deserves it’s reputation as great, but in my mind there are better options nearby. If friends or family come to visit from out of town I’d probably take them to a place like Hutchin’s instead.

Maybe the best in Dallas. It’s maybe a step below the elite bbq you’ll find in Austin, but it deserves 5 stars. I got the Trinity meal – which comes with brisket, choice of sausage, and one pork rib. I wanted burnt ends and there are no substitutions so I added that too. Then I ordered cornbread and the jalapeño Mac and cheese for sides. They didn’t miss. The jalapeño Mac and cheese is my new favorite. I wouldn’t mind it being a tad spicier. The cornbread has great flavor but maybe a tad dry. The burnt ends were the winner in the meat department. Couldn’t get enough. The rib was next. I got the hatch chili and cheese sausage and it was delicious. Surprisingly the brisket, while very good, was my least favorite. It lacked flavor, not a lot of crust, and was almost mushy for some reason. Sauces, atmosphere, service and attitude all very welcoming. Would recommend as a better alternative to any other Dallas bbq location I’ve been to. Tip: order the run to take home. My grilled chicken has never tasted better

If you have a chance to try their Pastrami Beef rib you must get it. It is so tender moist and delicious. It will melt in your mouth. I love smoked beef ribs and having it cooked like a pastrami just made this possible the best beef rib I’ve ever eaten. It’s not cheap at $33.99/lb and each rib is about 2 lb. But it’s totally worth it. You can taste the quality of the beef they use. And because it is so rich you don’t need to each much to be satisfied. It’s definitely a dish to share with the table. I will definitely be coming back hopefully the pastrami will be there the next time I’m there.
