We had burgers and fries and they were delicious! They have a lot of seating and it was cozy. However, I forgot to take pictures of the tables. Food also came out quickly. The staff was polite and made the experience pleasant. Overall, great place. It’s a must try!
First of all this restaurant is severely understaffed. I ate here at 9 a.m. on a Friday morning with not a lot of customers inside. It took at least 5 minutes to be greeted and then seated. My daughter ordered the bear’s choice meal and I ordered the 2x2x2. Both meals came out and they were ok, seasoning left a little to be desired. I am taking 1 star for the wait time and service, and one more for the food itself. When I got the bill they are charging 50% of the meal price to convert one of the options listed for the bear’s choice to a fruit French toast. Myself nor my daughter saw anywhere on the menu that it would be an upcharge, certainly not 50% of the meal cost. I was severely underwhelmed, especially for as much competition as there is in the Harker Heights area. I let them know at the front counter I was not informed of the upcharge and that the waitress should have informed me. All I got was a “you’re right, and I’m sorry about that.” If you really want to build a client base and have repeat customers the cashier would have rectified the situation. Needless to say when I’m passing through and hungry I’ll just wait until Belton. At least I know there I can get a literal breakfast platter with chips and salsa for 7.99. What we ordered was certainly not worth 30 dollars. Then you make me wait 5-10 minutes at the exit to pay at the end? There is a Brown Bear diner in Waco that blew me away with food, service, and price, owners may want to check it out for ideas. Maybe it’s my fault for trusting a California based business?
Black Bear Diner in Harker Heights is one of the best Black Bear Diner restaurants we have ever ate at. I did notice that the same item is not the same elsewhere. I ordered a certain food item at one restaurant but at this location that certain food had different items on it. All in all, the atmosphere was awesome. The waitress was super polite and friendly as well.
