The service is fantastic here, but we weren’t so enthused about the food. The fried cheese curds were fantastic, and I’d highly recommend them along with the cornbread muffin, but the rest was just okay. The baked potato was cold. It tasted fine. But I really wanted a hot potato. The catfish was decent. The chicken tenders were very dry. The pork and the brisket were both too fatty. The barbecue sauce options were very tasty. I ended up soaking the tenders in it so they wouldn’t be so dry.
This place has been a family favorite restaurant to us for, many years now. We usually come together here for those “special occasions” or reunions of sorts. This visit was for Bobby, who came in from out of town. We are loyal to Famous Dave’s Restaurant, because of their family style platters, these are so practical and satisfying. This platter would easily serve 4-6 people, more or less, depending if “the weird uncle” shows up. For these larger parties, they seat you in a semi-private room with a fireplace. On this last occasion, our waitress (cannot remember her name) was the bow on top of the gift. She single handedly managed to wait our group of about 20 people, and she did it with a smile. Bravo! She got the order right the first time, she constantly offered refills, and was on point, heck she even helped us out with a group photo. She made the visit feel like home, I would highly recommend Famous Dave’s Restaurant on George Dieter for your next family function, dinner for two, or to just hang out at the bar. (Which have all the available sports.) It’s fun, cozy, and Oh yeah Delicious. Finger licking good.
ALL AMERICAN FEAST: It all comes to the food, brisket was fatty and flavor less, in fact it had 40% more fat and 60% meat. The chicken was partially cooked, some parts were raw, not fully cooked, guess no condiments were used today to give that chicken a good tasty flavor. Ribs, You don’t have to be a master chef to know how to make ribs that fall off the bone, guessing they forgot to cook them slowly, instead seems like they cooked them at high temperature and avoid the waiting time, Ribs texture was chewy. Food Complements were the best, but main reason to visit a BBQ restaurant is the MEAT, but Not Today Famous Daves, Not today. As people said, “you get what you pay.” I paid, but I did not get what I paid, a good food.
