Overall a decent meal. I had the brisket and pulled pork with sides of potato salad and the spicy green beans. The fat content in the brisket and pulled pork was extremely high, to the point where I tasted very little actual meat even though I clearly could see what was in front of me. The potato salad is slightly sweet, which as a personal preference is a no no, it still maintained the standard mustard based salad taste and was enjoyable. The spicy green beans were not “hot” spicy and you could tell that there was heat added to them that was quite pleasing. What brings the food quality rating down is that I went to drink my Red Flash and was rudely greeted by an old sponge taste. At first I thought my straw had been exposed somehow to dirty water so I removed my straw and lid and drank straight from the cup. Again I was greeted by the same taste. This is something I could not excuse and reconcile in my nearly 30 years of food service and hospitality work.
I’ve visited this place multiple times before, but today they fell short. The brisket, which is usually the highlight for me, was dry this time. However, the spicy sausage was enjoyable, and my daughter loved the baked potato.
