This place is in the middle of nowhere and couldn’t get any closer to the freeway without having striped lines on it, but they were packed with customers. The speciality is the buffet. They had something for everyone. I opted out because it was too much temptation. The chicken sandwich I had was excellent. As were the fried okra and black eyed peas. Our server was helpful and kept our drinks topped off. She had warm bread and butter to our table before we even finished sitting down. The bread is fantastic. They also have a cute little gift shop. Definitely worth the stop.
If you’re looking for a spot to go while you charge your EV, this place is the perfect spot! We had very tasty chicken fried steak with sweet tea and many pies to choose from. The dining area is modest, but it’s usually vibrant because of the buzz of the people. Clean bathrooms and a gift shop to hang out in if you’re not looking to eat. Really kind staff, really great home cookin. And the chargers were great! 218 kWh. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Sam’s is simply wonderful. At a spot along Interstate 45 when you’re probably ready to get out of the car, sit at a table, and have a true meal, Sam’s will not disappoint. You can order off the menu or just go for the buffet, which is the better option, in my opinion. It’s a salad bar with tons of options, hot veggies and entrees that change (I think daily or weekly) with a couple of staples like small chicken fried steaks and mashed potatoes, and a wall of desserts. A small loaf of delicious bread and butter also comes for the table. After your meal, peruse the gift shop and pick up a fun pair of socks, a quirky sticker for your car or laptop, and some funky earrings. Don’t forget to stop by the clean restrooms, too. The great staff will send you back on your way with a full tummy and a smile on your face!
