If you’re looking for a culinary experience that beautifully marries Ethiopian and Texan flavors, look no further than Smoke n Ash BBQ in Arlington, Texas. Recently recognized by the New York Times as one of the top 59 restaurants, this gem truly lives up to the hype. From the moment you walk in, the inviting aroma of smoked meats envelops you, setting the tone for a memorable meal. The ribs are a standout, seasoned to perfection, delivering a tender, juicy bite that leaves you craving more. But the star of the show has to be the lamb and pork sausage; it’s an absolute revelation on the plate, bursting with flavor and perfectly grilled. The sides were equally delightful. The greens were fresh and well-prepared, complementing the meats nicely, while the chicken was seasoned just right, enhancing its natural flavors. Although the mac n cheese was a bit more basic than expected, it still managed to satisfy without overshadowing the other dishes. The BBQ brisket baked beans were reminiscent of a backyard cookout in a cultured neighborhood, rich and hearty, making them a perfect companion to the meats. And don’t even get me started on the lemon cake—it was next level! A light, zesty finish to the meal that had me yearning for another slice. I did request the stewed chicken sauce on the side, and while they were unable to accommodate that particular request, the service was friendly and attentive throughout. A few menu items were unavailable during my visit, but it only adds to the charm of a place that’s clearly popular. Overall, Smoke n Ash BBQ offers a unique dining experience with flavors that are both familiar and adventurous. It’s a must-visit for anyone in the Arlington area looking to indulge in some truly outstanding BBQ!
