Update::July 2022:: still so freaking good after all these years! First came through sept 2019 and it was just a small shack on the side of the road. But they have upgraded and moved locations. They now offer dine in, with cool air conditioning. The new bean bowl is to DIE for, and the jalapeño poppers are the exact same as I remember . I have traveled all through the south of this country and this bbq is by far a must stop when I am in the area!! In fact I took this route to Houston just for this bbq!! Original post:: sept 2019:: This little bbq place on the side of the road is exactly what I was hoping for, when I imagined eating bbq on the side of the road in Texas. Delicious food and great service. The name is what drew me in but if I lived near by I would be a regular for sure.
The place is small but the food is excellent. I highly recommend fish Fridays. Best fried fish you’ve ever had including your own. He will cater to wishes the best he can. How crispy do you want your fish? What cut of BBQ(fat content)?
Spare barbecue was an awesome dinner. They have a special day we loved it was like a sampler of everything. We thought we needed to have two of those orders to feed six of us. We in fact ended up taking home one of the orders almost complete. There’s a whole lot more food than you can imagine even by looking at it. And it was a bargain at 35 bucks! :-) excellent food great prices, what more would you want out of the barbecue place. :-) the atmosphere was clean and hospitable. The staff was friendly and very serviceable. We will be back
