I ordered a small cup of beans. I was disappointed to see I basically had a bean soup. I had about two spoonfuls of beans and the rest liquid. I also ordered brisket, moist outside cut and it was slightly dry. What’s the point of paying extra for moist if it is dry?
Little disappointed. Had the Turkey, and it was dry and nothing special. Had the Brisket, and it was dry. I measure all Rudy’s from the standard set at the Del Rio location, which was my first experience at Rudy’s. Their Turkey was amazingly smokey and good as was everything. No other location has measured up since.
Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q in Richmond is aligned with other stores I’ve visited. They are very consistent is delivering good quality food. The Spicy Chop sandwich is good and relatively lean but certainly doesn’t live up to the expected spice level. Also, the sandwich should have had more meat, it covers the bun if you spread it out. The Half Chicken is a better value. The dish is reasonably prices and the chicken is moist and flavorful. The staff behind the counter is intensely focused on taking your order and slightly robotic, however, I’m here to eat not chat. The rustic environment is expected and somewhat appropriate. I’ll never be a fan of the hard wood benches. It makes you want finish your meal and get out.
